The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines grammar as, “the whole system and structure of a language or of languages in general, usually taken as consisting of syntax and morphology (including inflections) and sometimes also phonology and semantics.” It can also be described as, “a particular analysis of the system and structure of language or of a specific language.” For the purposes of this blog, we will simply call it the breakdown, and study of, what makes sentences make sense.

The purpose of these postings is to help students learn, absorb, and retain concepts that may at first be difficult or confusing. Each posting will cover a specific topic or portion of grammar, whether that has to do with sentence structure or phrasing, or specific components of how clauses fit together. Along with definitions will be learning aids and examples in order to enable better comprehension and retention of information.
